We encourage you to buy your hostas locally.
Of course, you can save the time, travel expenses, and environmental impact of "distance shopping," but there are even more reasons to buy locally.
Have you ever purchased a plant at a big retail store, only to have it fail in your own garden?
The hosta varieties and other plants at Blue Pot Hostas have proven themselves in our own garden, under growing conditions similar to those in your garden. We
water and
fertilize our garden, of course, but we don't really pamper it. You can see the results in our display gardens, only a short drive from downtown Midland; just call for a convenient time to visit. We have over 25 years worth of experience growing hostas and can share with you the best ways to care for them, so your hostas will grow and thrive.
Did you know that sometimes juvenile hosta plants that you might buy at a big-box store don't look the same as mature plants? Or that sometimes they are mislabeled?
Buying locally allows you to see mature hosta clumps in our garden and be assured that the smaller plant division you are buying will give the garden result that you want.
Have you ever fallen in love with a plant at the store, only to get home and realize it's the same variety you already have? Or that it just doesn't fit in with your existing plants?
We have many books with descriptions and color photos of thousands of hostas. We can help our customers identify hostas in their own gardens and help you choose new varieties to complement your existing plants and garden.
Did you know that garden center employees at big retail stores aren't always trained to spot diseased plants?
As a member of the
American Hosta Society, we stay current with the latest information on new hosta varieties, hosta care, and issues such as emerging diseases and disease control. In addition, Blue Pot Hostas is licensed by the State of Michigan as a nursery/grower, and has an annual agricultural inspection by the State to help us be sure our stock is healthy.
